October 11, 2020

Solihull-based Living Space Housing has appointed Alex Jones as a Technical Manager to oversee all new projects currently being brought online, as the team scales up to deliver 580 affordable homes over the next 18 months.

Living Space is a development-led residential planning, design and construction services solution for Registered Providers, PRS Funds, the NHS, Universities and Defence Estates, which provides an end-to-end service, enabling more homes to be delivered with greater efficiency. Having launched to the market in 2019, it already has a total of 406 residential plots in agreement, representing a combined construction value in excess of £61million.

Alex Jones joins from construction company Torsion Group, where he was a Design Manager. Prior to that, he was a Design and Build Coordinator at Kier Living. He has a BSc in Computer Aided Design and Construction from the University of Wolverhampton and has also previously worked for Waterman Group, Cundall Johnston & Partners, Telling Design and Electronic Architecture.

Mr Jones has extensive experience leading the technical management of residential schemes in their entirety, including developing drawings at the pre-construction stage, appointing and managing consultants, and being responsible for the day to day running of live developments. He is also skilled in remediating complex and challenging brownfield land.

Steve Davies, Managing Director of Living Space Housing said: “Alex Jones has been brought on board to support the whole team as we secure new development opportunities. He will be working alongside colleagues in land, planning and construction as new projects are programmed and cost planned. We are delighted to have bolstered the team with someone who possesses such a wealth of residential experience and passion for the role.”

Alex Jones, Technical Manager for Living Space Housing said: “It is great to be joining a company that is growing so rapidly, despite all the challenges the industry is facing due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Living Space’s solid funding position is enabling a number of new sites to come on stream simultaneously and it will be exciting to be able to announce these to the market as soon as the deals have been confirmed.”

The vast majority of the homes Living Space builds are delivered to Registered Providers (RPs) for affordable rent and shared ownership. Approximately five per cent of the plots currently being delivered will be sold on the open market, with prices typically starting from £220,000. Living Space sources the land, achieves Full Detailed Planning consent and builds the houses for the RP, enabling them to focus on the funding and management of high-quality homes for their residents.

Living Space’s core area of operation is the West Midlands conurbation, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire. New sites are coming online in Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire, while the East Midlands has also been identified as a growth area for its high-quality affordable housing product.
