Solar PV Panels at Bedfordshire’s Woodbury Gardens Will Deliver Significant Savings

July 30, 2021

Solar PV panels are being installed to the three executive family homes at Living Space Housing’s Woodbury Gardens scheme in the village of Moggerhanger, Central Bedfordshire. The green technology could deliver energy savings of around 35% to each household.

The photovoltaic panels are being installed onto the roofs of the four-bedroom homes. The low-maintenance energy solution will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of each new household, lower electricity bills, while also enabling the residents of the new family houses to capitalise on the Smart Export Guarantee, by receiving payments from their chosen utility provider for the renewable energy that is exported back into the grid. Homeowners can also choose to add storage batteries to the solar PV system, install electric car chargers, heat pump technology, or charge hot water cylinders, in order to further enhance the eco credentials of their home over time.

Living Space’s bijou development of detached homes benefits from its own access off Park Road, just along from Moggerhanger Park; a Grade I Listed house with 33 acres of park and woodland. Moggerhanger Primary School and a range of local amenities are also close by, while the nearby towns of Sandy and Biggleswade both have train stations providing direct services to London in around 45 minutes.

Steve Davies, Managing Director of Living Space Housing said: “We are really proud to be delivering such eco-efficient family homes to the historic rural village of Moggerhanger. The photovoltaic roof panels are very low maintenance and have a life span of around 25 years. The green technology could enable the future homeowners to make savings of around 35% off their electricity bills, as well as receiving payments from their chosen utility provider for the surplus renewable energy that is generated and put back into the grid.

“The smart generation meters in each home will enable our purchasers to monitor the amount of solar power that is produced. Setting timers for large appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines to come on during the daytime – when the most renewable energy will be generated – is a great way to maximise the potential savings.”

There are only two Woodbury Gardens homes still available for sale on an off-plan basis, enabling house hunters to make specification choices in advance of completions later this year. The two four-bedroom Hertford homes are each priced at £570,000, with features including double garages and generous front and rear gardens.

The design, planning and construction of this development all reflects the enviable and scenic setting, close to Moggerhanger Park. The new family homes are being constructed with a mixture of red brick and render. The quality specification includes contemporary fitted kitchens, complete with a range of integrated Bosch appliances and Quartz worktops and upstands. All bathrooms and en-suites feature Porcelanosa wall tiling and complementary Karndean flooring.

Moggerhanger village is highly popular with locals, while also appealing to those looking to relocate out of a big town or city. Moggerhanger is situated on the A603, two miles from the A1 at Sandy. It is just four miles from the A421 Bedford bypass and 20 minutes from the M1. The village is easily accessible from London, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Birmingham and Oxford.

Living Space has six other residential developments currently under construction located in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Shropshire.
